Brussels and Batman V Superman

As Europe reels from another terrorist attack, we take a moment to reflect on the tragedy as well as the forgotten tragedies of Turkey. We sympathize with the pain and question whether there is a selective outrage when it comes to tragedy, or if people resonate more with certain tragedies over others. We examine the global structure and how unequal it can be in cultural impact. We discuss the abhorrent response by the GOP candidates with Trump renewing his call to ban all Muslims and Ted Cruz demanding that Muslim neighborhoods be policed. This leads us to talk about Batman v Superman and what it tells us about the American experience. We look at the nature of totalitarianism, immigration, capitalism, and the role of the hero in the comic book and movie story.
