This past week has been filled with tragedy. In this episode of Currently Nerdy we process all that has happened. We talk about Christina Grimmie, James Howell’s attempt at LA pride and the massacre at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. While we mention Omar Mateen briefly we focus primarily on the the climate of homophobia, media coverage, and gun control in the United States. We talk a somber look at the dehumanizing of the LGBTQ community and the violence they face. We express our solidarity and discuss various ways of getting involved to help the victims and the community. We mention the history of gun rights, the history of the gay rights movement, and the history of gay clubs as safe spaces in our discussion.
