#OscarSoWhite, Super Tuesday, and KKK

Oh America, why you so cray. The Academy Awards just took place and once more it was whiter than wonder bread. We discuss the role of representation and race in the entertainment industry. We take a look at how the problem is systemic in the type of roles that are available, who gets those roles, and how Hollywood reinforces stereotypes of race. This leads to a discussion about colorism within Hollywood and even with people of color, the suppression of marginalized people within minority communities like transgender people within the LGBTQ community, and the erasure of people of color in representation. We talk about brown-face, black-face, and yellow-face. Ali takes a moment to share the homespun wisdom of his mother about the Oscars before moving on to talk about Super Tuesday. We reflect on the rise of Trump and what it has brought out in the country as well as the decline of Sanders.
